Join us at our Community Garden for a friendly, hands-on workshop that will change how you feel about plants popping up uninvited in your garden. If you’ve ever looked at a patch of horsetail, dandelion, or dock and felt your heart sink, this one is for you.

Led by herbalist Wendy Dooner, you’ll discover how some of the most stubborn and common garden plants are actually worth keeping. You’ll learn how to turn them into medicines and foods you can use at home, and how plants like nettle can go back into the garden itself as a brilliant feed for your soil and the things growing in it. Once you know what they can do you’ll never see them the same way again.

Over the course of this hands-on workshop, you’ll get to know these plants properly and go home with a remedy you have made with your own hands. There will also be a PDF guide to take away with you, so you can continue exploring at home.

No experience needed at all. This workshop is open to everyone, whether you’re a keen gardener, a total beginner, or you just fancy learning something new with friendly folk in a lovely community garden. All are welcome.

Please dress for the weather conditions on the day, and wear sturdy footwear as some of the ground in the Community Garden is uneven.

We’ll have the kelly kettle on for tea and coffee, so please bring along your own mug if you can.

Book Your Tickets!

This is a ticketed event, and advance booking is essential. Bookings can be made below. Tickets are non-refundable but are transferable to friends or family.

Children under 18 must be supervised by a responsible adult – the workshop will probably be boring for them though, so please only bring children if you think they will be able to occupy themselves while you get stuck in! Any questions, please ask!
