E-Bike

Loan an e-bike from Sustainable Kirriemuir.

In Scotland, over 40% of all journeys are less than two miles. Yet many of us still jump in the car for these short trips, even though we could often walk or cycle instead. Choosing to walk, cycle or use another active form of travel for short journeys can cut pollution, improve our health, and save us money.

But, we’ve certainly noticed that Kirriemuir is a tad on the hilly side, so cycling isn’t always easy!

Sustainable Kirriemuir has built up a small fleet of e-bikes, thanks to funding from the Energy Saving Trust, The National Lottery and SSEN Transmission’s Community Benefit Fund which are available for local residents to loan. It’s a great way to try before you buy!

Our Bikes

We have three e-bikes, one folding bike, and one cargo e-bike available to loan:

  • 1 x small step-through e-bike (46cm frame)

  • 1 x medium step-through e-bike (50cm frame)

  • 1 x large cross-bar e-bike (56cm frame)

  • 1 x folding e-bike, great for taking on busses or trains, or if you don’t have a lot of storage space to keep a bike at home.

  • 1 x cargo e-bike which can be used for 2 x small passengers or shopping/goods.

The bikes come with a lock, helmet, lights, pannier bag and a hi-vis vest.

How long can I loan the e-bike for?
Loans are for 4 weeks at a time.

Who can loan a bike?
You must be age 18 or over and live in the local area.

How do I book an e-bike?
The first step is to complete a request form, then one of our team will be in touch to discuss availability and complete the booking.

How much do e-bikes cost to loan?
The standard cost for a 4-week loan is £30, with options to pay more or less depending on your circumstances. We want our scheme to be affordable, but we also need to cover our costs to ensure we can keep it running. Just choose the most appropriate cost for your circumstances when signing up and we’ll invoice you for that amount, no questions asked.
