Let’s grow together…

@ The Farm

We are delighted to have begun a lease of a 17-acre field on Kinnordy Estate in November 2024. This is where we will develop our next big Food & Growing project. Our plan for the farm is to build a thriving ecosystem that produces the most nutritious and delicious food possible, whilst also building biodiversity, soil, income, resilience, and community. We will do this by growing fresh, seasonal, produce following a Community Supported Agriculture Scheme model, supplying local cafes, restaurants, and shops, too.

In stage 1, we’ll provide access to affordable, nutritious food by establishing a Market Garden. We will contribute to revitalising our local food culture, providing opportunities for people to connect with the land, eat together and pool resources.

Community Supported Agriculture

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a mutually beneficial partnership between farmers and customers (members). Members commit to a seasonal or yearly subscription to receive fresh, seasonal produce. Members pay upfront or in installments, helping farms cover operational costs and reduce risks. In return, they receive regular shares of the harvest, often weekly or bi-weekly. Additionally, members can see for themselves the steps being taken to farming ecologically, rather than investing in expensive certifications. Being a member is like voting for the health and regeneration of our local lands and ecosystems!

Beyond produce, CSAs may offer additional opportunities like volunteering, farm visits, community events, and online interactions, fostering transparency and a strong sense of community. CSAs promote sustainable agriculture, local economies, and environmentally conscious food choices. They aren’t limited to produce; there are also meat, flower, wood, and even fish CSAs.

Did you know…

A recent report from the Food, Farming and Countryside Commission, Farming for Change, revealed that agroecology can produce enough food to feed a healthy UK population whilst also reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from agriculture by at least 38% by 2050.
