In May we held our first Repair Café in our new premises on Bank Street, Kirriemuir and welcomed dozens of people through the door, taking a look at 20 items and fixing 12 of them on the day! Only one poor item was deemed unfixable. We felt the day was so successful we’ve planned another four cafés in for the rest of 2026!
So why not have a rummage and see what you’ve got lurking in your house or garden that is longing to be brought back in to use. Drop in during a Repair Café, grab a brew and a biscuit, and hopefully we’ll have some handy volunteers to help get your item back into ship shape! All repairs are free of charge but we really appreciate any donations to help further Sustainable Kirriemuir’s work. You can donate with cash on the day, or online.
Help Out at a Repair Café
Are you quite a handy person, like tinkering with things? We’re building a group of volunteers who are willing to help do simple repairs while showing others how to do them too. You don’t have to be available for every date; the more volunteers we have, the more we can share the load, and the more skills we could have between us all! If you’d like to volunteer your time at a Repair Café please submit a Volunteer Application Form, or if you already volunteer with us, please pop us a message or email to let us know you’d like to help with this too! We also always need a couple of volunteers to make the brews and register items, so even if you aren’t a fixer we’d still love your help!

We also have a Repair Directory for local people who can offer repair services as part of a business. If you’d like to feature on this, or know someone we’re missing, please email us. This helps us be able to signpost people to you who need more complex repairs done by a specialist.
Photography
We take photographs at our events to help promote our activities and impacts. These photographs are used on our social media channels including this website, and for the purposes of reporting to funders. If you do not wish for your photograph to be taken, please notify a member of staff at the event.
