Come and pick your own blueberries by donation and help us raise money for Sustainable Kirriemuir.
The Story of the Blueberry Farm
The Thomson family have grown blueberries on their farm for over 20 years. In the early 2010s they massively up-scaled production, planting several acres of plants. Unfortunately with countries like Peru and South Africa also increasing production, imports have increased, with supermarkets favouring them due the lower price. The market price is now too low for their blueberry business to be viable. In 2022 they ceased picking for supermarkets and instead held a number of charity and local community group pick days, raising thousands of pounds for local charities such as ourselves.
With the plants still in the ground and the price still not high enough to make commercial production viable, they are running charity picking days again this year. You can find out more on their website.
Help Us Raise Money for Sustainable Kirriemuir
On the dates listed above, Sustainable Kirriemuir are marshalling the picking. All money raised at these times will go towards continuing our charitable work. Previous pickers will tell you there’s always an abundance of blueberries; great to stock up your freezer with for eating during the winter months!

Children under 18 must attend with a responsible adult.

Tickets
This event is drop-in, no need to book tickets. If you would like to volunteer to marshal on the day, please email us at info@sustainablekirriemuir.co.uk.
