Increase your cycling confidence with…

Adult Cycle Training

Ready to ride with more confidence?

Whether you’re brand-new to cycling or just want a refresher, we’ve got you covered.

Sustainable Kirriemuir is a Cycling Scotland-approved training provider, which means we can offer friendly, practical sessions that fit your needs. Our goal is simple: help you feel relaxed and confident on your bike – whether you’re riding to work, heading to the shops, or enjoying a family spin. Christina, our Active Travel Officer, is a qualified Cycle Trainer and enthusiastic everyday rider. She loves helping people discover the fun of cycling, whatever their starting point. You’ll start with an introductory 1-1 session to establish what you’d like to achieve, then follow on from this with up to three more 1-1 sessions at a time to suit you. With three of our volunteers also about to be qualified as Adult Cycle Trainers, we’re sure to find a time to suit you.

How it Works

We’ll have a quick chat about what you’d like to achieve—maybe commuting, exploring local routes, or just feeling steadier in traffic. Then we’ll plan sessions tailored to you. Sessions usually last around 2–2.5 hours, with up to three follow-ups if you’d like.

What You’ll Need

  • A road-worthy bike. (No bike yet? We can point you to local shops and low-cost options.)
  • Weather-ready clothing.

Cost

Thanks to funding from NHS Tayside Charitable Foundation and Cycling Scotland, these sessions are free. However, donations to support our work are always welcome.

Our first participant…

Christina was patient, friendly, and confident; helping me learn at a pace that suited me. The fact I can now cycle with cars on the road, which was one of my biggest fears is amazing! I would definitely recommend these sessions.
