E-Bike
Borrow an e-bike from Sustainable Kirriemuir.
In Scotland, over 40% of all journeys are less than two miles. Yet many of us still jump in the car for these short trips, even though we could often walk or cycle instead. Transport is the biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Scotland and a major cause of poor air quality. Choosing to walk, cycle or use another active form of travel for short journeys can cut pollution, improve our health, and save us money.
But, we’ve certainly noticed that Kirriemuir is a tad on the hilly side, so cycling isn’t always easy! That’s why Sustainable Kirriemuir have a small, but growing, fleet of e-bikes, funded by the Energy Saving Trust, The National Lottery and most recently the SSEN Transmission’s Community Benefit Fund. Local residents in Kirriemuir and the surrounding glens can borrow these bikes to see if an e-bike might suit them before buying their own. All we ask in return is that you consider making a donation to cover the storage and maintenance of the bikes, so we can keep the scheme running!

We have three e-bikes, one folding bike, and one cargo e-bike available to borrow:
The bikes come with a lock, helmet, lights, pannier bag and a hi-vis vest.

How long can I borrow the e-bike for?
Members of the community can borrow the bikes for 4 weeks.
Who can borrow a bike?
You must be age 18 or over and live in the Kirriemuir area.
How do I book an e-bike?
The first step is to complete an expression of interest form, then one of our team will be in touch to discuss availability and complete the booking.
How much do e-bikes cost to borrow?
Borrowing our bikes is by donation. Please only donate what you can afford. These donations are vital to support maintenance and servicing of the bikes. A suggested donation for a 4-week loan is £30.
