A Longer Table

A Longer Table CIC, is a zero plastic-waste retail grocers shop selling grocery basics, such as dry goods, in-season Scottish-grown fresh vegetables, and ecologically friendly household and personal care products. They also offer some gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options. Where possible they give preference to local producers and suppliers.

Alex Spink & Sons Ltd

Alex Spink & Sons Ltd are a family run business based in Arbroath. Their fish is bought from Peterhead Market every morning and processed in Arbroath before going out for delivery the following morning. They have a van in Kirrie every Friday which delivers to various streets as well as stopping in the town centre.

Baked by Belle

Baked by Belle is run by Heather Kelly, a local Kirrie resident who sells directly through her Facebook page and at local markets and fairs. Her chocolates are also stocked in A Longer Table. Her main product is Belgian Chocolate Truffles. She also makes a range of vegan and dairy free as well.

Benshie Berries

Benshie Berries To You is a delivery service based at Ballinshoe Farm known locally as Benshie. They will deliver freshly picked strawberries in trays of 20 punnets to local shops, businesses or individuals, direct from the grower, and can also sell direct from the farm.

Blairgowrie Farm Shop

Blairgowrie Farm Shop box together local seasonal produce plus extras like milk, eggs and rolls, and then deliver everything to your home on a weekly basis. Most items are loose and free of any non-essential plastic packaging.

The ever popular Cameron’s Fishmonger & Poulterer in Forfar sell high quality fish, chicken and more, also selling ready made pies. You can call them on 01307 463520.

Eassie Farm

Eassie farm has been in the Pattullo family since the 1840s and for the past 30 years Sandy and Heather have been growing asparagus and seakale. Their asparagus is highly prized by Scotland’s finest restaurants and local retailers.

Karen from Farmhouse Fudge creates Luxury Artisan Homemade Fresh Dairy Fudge. You can buy her fudge from Mill of Inverarity Farm Shop and a number of other local food shops, or you can order direct.

Farmtoun

Rose and George at Farmtoun make small batch seasonal jams, chutneys, relishes, chilli sauces, slow pressed apple juices, fruit and flower cordials; all of which are made from home grown fruit and vegetables. Next year they hope to have some honey to sell from their smallholding. They have a small shop that is open by appointment only in Ballindarg. Contact them via Facebook

Farmtoun hope to broaden the range in their wee shop over the next few years and collaborate with other small scale makers locally.

Garlowbank Farm

Glengate Larder & Deli

The Glengate Larder & Deli is based in Kirriemuir and is a butchers and deli providing various cuts of local meat and pre-prepared food/meals like pies, kebabs and more. They also sell cheese and hams! They can deliver locally.

Kirrie Community Garden @ St. Mary’s Field

Produce from the Kirrie Community Garden at St. Mary’s Field is chemical free and grown on a field which supports biodiversity. Tina at A Longer Table sells their veg on the Kirrie High Street during normal shop hours, which you can find here.

Or, you can come along and buy whatever they have freshly picked from the field during their opening hours.
You can even volunteer for a couple of hours and get a share of fruit, veg, herbs, and flowers to take away with you for free.
Everyone is welcome and they are open three days a week:
Mondays 10 – 12 noon
Wednesdays 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.
Saturdays 11 – 1 p.m.

McLaren’s Bakery

McLaren’s deliver fresh produce to their Kirrie shop first thing before opening time at 8am daily. They also have two shops in Forfar and sell a range of baked goods including bridies, pies, bread and cakes.

Mrs C’s Cake Co

Mrs C’s Cake Co is based in Eassie a couple of miles along the road from Glamis, and only ten minutes from Kirrie.
Mrs C is a cupcake and buttercream cake specialist, alongside being a traybakes and a custard cream expert too! She offers treat boxes on specific dates during the year too which can be collected.

Owen’s Angus Jams

Owen’s Angus Jams is a family run business focusing on making wholesome jams and marmalades using traditional methods. Owen’s Jam is sure to please your taste buds. You can now order different varieties, and they will be shipped to you in attractive glass jam jars.

Their ethos is to support local and all the fruit and veg they use comes from a 20 mile radius of Forfar. They use the local butchers for meat products in their take away cafe which will be extending to sitting in shortly. They promote recycling by reusing all fruit trays for cakes and baking and offer 10p back per jar on your jams and marmalades. Most of their cups and takeaway containers and cutlery are biodegradable as they are really trying to do their bit for the environment!

Peel Farm Farm Shop

Their Farm Shop (located within The Courtyard) is the latest edition to the Peel Farm site. They source locally and sell the best of Scottish produce, from jam’s, chutney’s, bannocks, seasonal veg, smoked salmon and their very own home-reared beef.

Pitscandly Farm Venison

Pitscandly Venison; locally bred and traditionally reared red deer.

They are third generation deer farmers whose current herd was established in the late eighties and have roamed Pitscandly Hill ever since. It is a perfect deer farm with a steep escarpment where deer can shelter in inclement weather together with good grass pastures.

The huge difference with Farmed deer and wild deer is that with farmed animals, you know their exact age, which ensures a consistently superior product. Pitscandly Farm is based just outside Forfar in rural Angus.

Rottal Vegetable Garden

Rottal Vegetable Garden is at Rottal Estate, Glen Clova, DD8 4QT. During the summer months, their shop (in the building joined to Rottal Estate office & Steading) is open every Saturday & Sunday 10am-7pm selling veg grown in Rottal Vegetable Garden.

The shop also stocks other produce from organic wholesalers such as, bananas, medjool dates, apples, turmeric, potatoes, to give a wider variety.

Rottal Vegetable Garden have a veg box delivery scheme operating on a Friday, with A Longer Table also stocking their produce in Kirriemuir. Their main commodity is salad leaves, vegetables and herbs. Everything is grown from organic seed, without the use of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides.

Sacred Grounds Coffee Company

Sacred Grounds Coffee Company roast and sell speciality, single origin coffee. When the camera obscura cafe up The Hill is open you can get a taste for their coffee in Kirrie.

They have various other retail outlets in Arbroath, Carnoustie, Dundee, and Brechin. They have an online shop and people are welcome to visit our roastery in Arbroath to buy direct. Bring a tub with you and they will be happy to fill it for you to save a bag!

Saddler’s of Forfar

The front shop of Saddler’s Bakery sell hot and cold takeaway food, hot and cold drinks, cooked meat products including the famous Forfar bridies, various pies and sausage rolls. a large selection of cakes including fresh dairy cream and various traybakes, homemade biscuits and oatcakes.

A free delivery service is available within the Forfar area. Buffets and parties are also catered for.

Star Rock Shop

The Star Rock Shop is the Oldest Sweet Shop in Scotland.

Established through the need of an income and providing for a family in 1833, the rock creation that led to the Star Rock Shop was in the same family for over 120 years.

Today, the recipes are still the same and the wooden shop shelves bow under the weight of Scottish and British favourites, and the ever increasing additions of something new.

Turriff’s

Turriff’s are quality merchants and providers of fruit and vegetables. With many wonderful farmers in the local area, they try to source as much of their produce locally and when in season as possible. You can have your fresh produce delivered to your door; customise your own box, fill it with your selection of their lovely goodies.
