Let’s work together to…

Value Resources

0
tonnes of food is wasted in Scotland every year.
0%
of Scotland’s food waste comes from our homes.
£0
million worth of clothing is sent to landfill in the UK each year.
0%
of Scotland’s emissions come from the energy used to grow, process & transport goods.

Make, mend, share and value what you own.

Did you know that 4/5th of Scotland’s carbon emissions are caused by the heat and energy required to grow, make, process, transport and provide goods and materials? (Zero Waste Scotland, 2021).

This is only made worse by the fact that we can be so quick to throw away things made using precious energy and resources, from food and clothes to everything in between.

It is part of our mission that we should all better value resources and we are here to help support you in doing so! At the moment, we are reducing food waste in local households, schools and shops, promoting sustainable fashion in all of its various forms and so much more. It may seem daunting at first, but doing a little can help a whole lot, so why not take part in our #SussYourFood food waste challenge, join our sustainable fashion group, join our Facebook group Swap Shop Kirrie, check out our Recycling Directory or order some reusable period products from our friends at Free Period Angus?!

Love what you have!

Let’s refuse, reduce, reuse, repair, recycle.

We want to help;

  • Reduce consumption.
  • Reduce unnecessary waste.
  • Share reuse and repair skills.
  • Improve and increase recycling.
I want to get involved…

As part of our Nourish Kirriemuir Project

We have committed to reducing local food waste by a minimum of 6 tonnes from March 2020 to March 2022!

An update from the SK team…

We love working with other local community groups and organisations to reduce waste. Our partnership with Kirriemuir Food Hub has saved over 9 tonnes of food waste since September 2020, and our partnership campaign with Free Period Angus in early 2021 provided over 130 people in Kirriemuir with free reusable period products! We all have to work together in the face of climate change.

Time is short and the solutions are simple.
