About Rose

Rose grew up on a fruit farm in Kent and throughout her career has worked on small organic farms in the UK and abroad. She is formally trained in sustainable land use, and both permaculture design and applied techniques. She also has a degree in Herbal Medicine. She has taught weekend courses at The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) in Mid Wales and been involved in the teaching of food growing, preserving of home-grown and wild foraged harvest, permaculture philosophy, plus general plant propagation on residential farm-based courses in the UK, Canada and Costa Rica.

She moved to Scotland in 2008 and embarked on smallholding in Angus with her partner George a couple of years later. She now grows and raises much of her own food; storing and preserving excess both for sale and winter-use, as well as having a small Eco-tourism business, Farmtoun.

Get Set Grow

It’s great being able to try my hand at gardening knowing there are others out there just giving it a go too. The course is great, a wee bit challenging and a big bit nurturing!
