Come along to our Action for Nature Meet-up, find out about what we do, and help us make a difference in Kirriemuir.
Would you like to share your skills or knowledge to help us take Action for Nature? Our Action for Nature volunteers deliver a range of mini-projects to monitor, protect and restore our local wildlife and their habitats. There’s lots of ways to get involved and it’s a great way to meet like-minded nature lovers! We meet every second month for a general Action for Nature catch up, with lots going on in between. From bird box building and squirrel monitoring to river riffling and pond building, we have something for everyone! The best way to find out about what we do and how to get involved is to come along to one of our meet-ups.
We’re a friendly and supportive group and always welcome new members. Contact us at info@sustainablekirriemuir.co.uk if you have any questions or would like to come along for the first time.
** UPDATE **
Due to the rain and wind forecast we’re now meeting in the Airlie Arms Hotel.
What are Sustainable Kirriemuir’s Action for Nature Aims?
Nature is life, and its diversity is essential to our future. Each part of nature has a role, however large, small or seemingly insignificant. We support our community to understand and appreciate the role and benefits of nature, both globally and locally, so that we can best protect and restore our nature. We aim to do this by:
- Promoting, protecting and restoring our local natural biodiversity.
- Studying, recording and tracking our local nature, and sharing this with our local community to inspire our work.
- Promoting the health and wellbeing benefits of spending time in nature.
- Studying our local extreme weather events, the effect on our nature, our vulnerabilities, and helping to support our community’s resilience with a better understanding of appropriate adaptations.
What can you do to help us achieve this?
